Best Pressure Cookers in India 2022

7 minutes, 3 seconds Read

As far as I know, no Indian cooks without a pressure cooker.

It is my personal preference to use pressure cookers for just about everything – from dals and rice to meats and even to quickly cook vegetables for soup.

They make life much easier, faster, and more convenient. A lot of people are also scared of pressure cookers because of the stories we hear.

Nevertheless, if you maintain them properly, change the parts as needed, and use them appropriately, they can last you for at least four to five years.

Read on for my reviews of the best Pressure Cookers in India:

1. Prestige Svachh Nakshatra

Pressure cookers from the brand Prestige are among the best in India.

You will find quite a few Prestige products on my list today because the company always innovates to stay on top.

One of the things I appreciate about Prestige is its sturdy build. These provide me with the mental assurance that they are reliable and safe for my kitchen.

A very attractive line of pressure cookers is the Nakshatra line. Their shape is adapted from that of the traditional curvy cooking pot (called ‘hundi’) that our grandmothers used. However, they have modern features.

Anodized aluminum is used for the body, the inside is coated with the same material, and the base is suitable for both gas and induction stoves. During cooking, there are fewer spills since the lid secures into the top and looks like a handi.

I found it challenging to get the lid in place at first, but after a bit of practice, you’ll be able to do it. There is a five-year warranty on this product.

2. Hawkins Contura

If you find any Prestige loyalists, you are sure to find lots of Hawkins loyalists as well.

Hawkins pressure cookers have always been sleek, with the lid securely attached on the inside rather than the outside.

The design may be inconvenient for some, but most people are used to it and enjoy it. It is safe for the user and cannot be opened until the pressure inside the cooker has decreased to a safe level.

Hawkins Contura line of pressure cookers is one of the best pressure cookers on the market thanks to its sleek and stylish design. Aluminum pressure cookers are made with an anodized black coating that helps them heat up more quickly.

It is coated with a mirror polish that keeps the cooker looking new for years to come. It has a stainless steel cover that is very sturdy. It is easier to stir the food with the curved and wide design as it allows you to see through to the bottom.

This cooker has only one disadvantage: it cannot be put in the dishwasher.

3. Prestige Popular

In almost every Indian household, you will find a Prestige popular pressure cooker – a model and style that is famous.

With a strong virgin aluminum body and a non-induction base, this cooker can only be used on gas range tops. The straight-walled cooker makes it easy to cook large quantities of food and stir easily.

It has a metallic safety plug and a gasket release system. The cooker has a shiny finish and is easy to clean.

Prestige’s Popular cooker is priced higher than other brands on the market, as it is with all Prestige appliances. It also comes with a 5-year warranty.

4. Prestige Deluxe Plus

The increasing popularity of induction stoves in our homes requires us to buy cookware that is suited to both gas and induction stoves.

Prestige’s Deluxe Plus pressure cooker is multi-purpose and has an induction base. The base features even heat distribution.

It is constructed of virgin aluminum, making it strong and lightweight. It has a hard anodized coating, giving it a neat, polished appearance.

A stainless steel safety plug secures the lid. It is designed in the form of a handi, making it perfect for cooking Indian dishes.

I like that I can purchase a glass lid with the cooker. The lid also includes a ladle holder. You can serve food at the dining table without having to transfer the contents to another serving bowl. Less cleanup!

This pressure cooker comes with a five-year-long warranty.

5. Butterfly Curve

For gas stovetops, the Butterfly is a common household name. There are not too many pressure cookers available from this brand, but the ones it does have are among the best you can find.

Unlike most aluminum pressure cookers, Butterfly’s Curve pressure cooker has a stainless steel body. Despite taking more time to cook and being heavier than one made of aluminum, this is healthier in the long run.

It has an induction-safe thick base. It is designed with a curved design. I like the design, and the curve makes stirring food easy. In addition, the finish is shiny, and it feels sturdy.

Compared to leading brands like Prestige, Butterfly is priced competitively and comes with a five-year warranty.

6. Hawkins – J31 Miss Mary

Miss Mary is Hawkins’ entry-level pressure cooker, priced at the lower end of the brand’s range of cookware.

It is constructed from premium aluminum metal, with a lid that is secure inside to prevent leaks during cooking.

The pressure cooker can only be used on a gas stovetop and not on an induction stovetop.

It is lightweight and comes in a variety of capacities, ranging from a small 1.5-liter cooker for one person to an 8.5-liter capacity cooker, ideal for parties of 10. Lids have automatic safety valves, as well as unbreakable handle brackets.

For peace of mind, it is ISI certified. Hawkins warranties the product for five years.

7. Prestige Svachh Clip-on

Pressure cookers such as the Prestige Clip-on have modern designs that make them easier to close and open compared to traditional designs.

With a traditional lid, you have to place it in a particular position to lock it. However, Prestige has made this for all the newbies in the kitchen. Regardless of where the lid is placed, clicking the lock will ensure it stays in place.

The pressure indicator adds an additional layer of safety. Each cooker is different in size, but they have the same design so that one lid fits them all.

This cooker has an aluminum body with a hard anodized coating, making it look good enough to put on my dining table to serve my guests.

It completes the look with the glass lid and ladle holder knob. This cooker’s only drawback is that the lid is heavy. Both gas and induction stoves can be used with this cooker.

Clip-On pressure cookers get the same 5-year warranty as all Prestige pressure cookers.

8. Hawkins – F40 Futura

Hawkins – F40 Futura
Hawkins – F40 Futura

With its fashionable appearance, modern design, and versatile jet black color, Hawkins Futura is one of Hawkins’ most popular pressure cookers.

Hawkins is known for its trademark lid, which is secured from the inside, but this model has a depth, thus minimizing spillage.

The fingertip pressure release system is at the heart of the unique design of this pressure cooker. If you press the release valve on the lid, you can release the pressure, so it is safe to open the cooker.

This cooker eliminates the need for a pressure weight that I am always losing around the kitchen and trying to find when I am pressed for time.

The body has a hard anodized coating for a shiny appearance.  It keeps it looking newer for longer and prevents scratches and tarnishing. It has an anodized coating inside that gives it a slight non-sticky texture, so I can use less oil for sauteing and seasoning.
